Gillows Mahogany Davenport

A fine Mahogany Davenport attributed to renowned makes Gillows of Lancaster.  The Davenport having an arrangement of 4 graduated drawers  and 2 pull out writing slides.  The fall front having inset tooled and gilded leather of which lifts up to reveal a storage well and 4 small drawers, 2 dummy and 2 working drawers. There is a concealed pen drawer to the side complete with a small pen tray.  Having a panelled front and back.  The whole raised on melon feet with the original inset brass castors.  Retaining the original locks, handles and escutcheons.  Wonderful original finish with good colour and luster.  English, Circa 1825
