A neatly proportioned pedestal occasional card table by W & C Wilkinson of Ludgate Hill, London.  This smart little table having a rectangular top which opens to reveal the original base interior.  Having a ring turned and reeded column terminating in a quadriform base, leading to carved bun feet with inset castors.  Great colour and original condition throughout.  English, Circa 1830.

Stamped by W & C Wilkinson who traded from 14 Ludgate Hill, London.  They were innovative in their designs,  In 1829 they were commissioned by the architect John Rennie to make a table which he presented to the Earl of Lonsdale at Lowther Castle. From 1833–34 they made furniture for the new Goldsmiths’ Hall in London to the designs of the architect Philip Hardwick. They furnished the Court Room, Court Drawing Room and Court Dining Room, while Seddons furnished the remaining rooms.
