A quirky 19th century country house fire escape, once property of Fasque House, Fettercairn Estate, Aberdeen. The painted wooden box contains a heavy duty rope, canvas wooden based sack with safety harness and pulley system - enabling escaping the upper floors of the house.
The Scottish seat of the Gladstone family where William E Gladstone (4 times Prime Minister) commissioned the building of Fasque House in 1829 whereby the fire escape would have of the inventory of productions.
