A panelled oak quarter chiming eight-day longcase clock by Richard Penney, London, late 19th century The substantial four-pillar triple train movement chiming the quarters on a choice of four or eight bells with a 13 inch brass break-arch dial with subsidiary seconds dial to the matted centre within a Roman numeral chapter ring , Arabic five minutes and bearing signature Rich: Penney, London to lower edge, the angles with twin cherub and crown pattern spandrels within herringbone engraved borders, the arch with Chime/Silent dial flanked by dolphin mounts, the break-arch pedimented case with foliate carved frieze and brass stop-fluted Corinthian columns to hood above quarter panelled trunk door flanked by quarter columns, on conforming plinth base with bracket feet
